Hiking to An Alpine Lake to Get Married

The Rocky Mountains of Colorado

Colorado Elopement Videographer

Stephanie and Justin's adventurous Colorado elopement was one of the most memorable days of the 2020 elopement season! After meeting Stephanie and Justin I felt so honored to provide some amazing visuals for them to cherish their elopement. Hailing from the Midwest, Stephanie and Justin met at an autobody shop when Stephanie brought in her VW bug that had broken. Justin, a mechanic, was there to the rescue. From those unexpected beginnings in that garage to now, on literal mountaintops on their wedding day, it was clear that these two were meant to be together. We hiked a few miles in, stopping along the way to spot some moose grazing in a nearby field, and eventually managed to arrive at this spectacular alpine lake. Part of the lake was dried up due to an abnormally warm summer in the area but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise as the ceremony was able to occur right there, where the lake used to be. After officiant Brandon Baker spoke the words that carried them across a new threshold of life and symbolized by the exchanging of wedding rings, it was official! They were married!

We hiked a bit further to a second location where I captured some drone footage then returned to the handheld, authentic and raw feel to capture a little picnic. It was a perfect way to spend the day. Alisha, Stephanie and Justin and I did some more shooting right on the edge of the pristine blue of the alpine lake. Some of my favorite shots of the whole day were right here (the epic thumbnail for example) and polished off their wedding day perfectly. We hiked down as it started to get dark, arriving once again at the trailhead with very little light to say our goodbyes. It’s days like this that I feel so incredibly fortunate to do what I do. I'm so honored to make Colorado elopement videos. Castlehouse serves to tell story-driven videos of love, hope, joy and adventure. When everything comes together and I can tell stories that check every box (like it did today) my heart feels full of gratitude. As an elopement videographer here in Colorado I get to tell stories of love, hope, joy and adventure. What a blessing!
